What is your purpose?

What is your purpose? That is something that I have asked myself for years, and I’m sure you have too. Many of us go through our entire lives and never find out purpose. There has to be more than just, waking up, going to work, taking care of kids or pets, then going to bed just to do it all over again the next day. If that’s what the American dream is, I don’t want it.

How many of us wish we could find our purpose early on? I am 42 and I think I have finally found mine. Photography. I didn’t even think about photography as something I would enjoy because of my blue-collar background and I will be honest, I thought it was for little, sissy men. Not strong backed farm and blue-collar kids. I was wrong. Photography is for everyone. I feel at ease in life when I am out shooting photos. Anxiety is gone for a short period of time. The only thing I worry about is what’s in my view finder and hitting focus. I found the joys of photography about 3 years ago and I haven’t looked back since. I want to learn everything there is to know about it. That is why I am here now. God gave me the gift of photography so that I could show off his creation in pictures to all who see. Because of this gift, I now run the camera at my church part time for our live streams. Being more involved and giving back my time to God and the church makes me feel like I am making a change.

Find something you’re good at and run with it. I don’t care if you have to try 100 different things in the next five years. You will eventually find what God’s purpose is for you. It could be photography, nursing, teaching, music, etc… We never know until we ask God to reveal it to us and get out of our comfort zones and try.
